Where is the Dojo located?

We practice at the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute, located at the corner of Gramercy Avenue and 162nd Street in Gardena. The Dojo uses the Main Hall, which is accessed through the driveway on 162nd Street.

Am I too old to learn Kendo?

Kendo is a martial art you can enjoy for a lifetime. We even have Senseis in their 80s still training actively. To ensure your safety, please let us know of any health concerns and consult your physician before participating in vigorous physical activity.

When will I be able to wear bogu (Kendo armor)?

May I visit the Dojo & observe practice?

Visitors are welcome to observe our classes on Fridays. If you let us know in advance and arrive at least 30 minutes before practice begins, we’ll be glad to greet you and answer any questions. Once practice starts, we kindly ask that questions wait until the end of class.

How & when can I enroll?

What will I need for my first practice?
